New York street artist Bradley Theodore is a fashion darling, and rising star of the art world. His second solo UK exhibition opened at Maddox Gallery last night. We went along to investigate.
Perhaps his most iconic work is the mural of Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld, originally painted on a wall in Brooklyn, and now replicated on canvas.
However, it’s not just fashion royalty who inspire him. Our very own Queen has also received the Theodore treatment more than once. We particularly like this image, on a suitably regal gold background. Even in skeletal form, we are pleased to see her rocking a rather large diamond necklace!
We were also taken with “The Big Short”
Dark, vibrant, large-scale and powerful – it’s not hard to see why Theodore’s work is becoming so collectible.
The exhibition runs to 20 May and is well worth a visit.
Love, Mildred xx
