This week, I attended the preview night of Masterpiece London at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Although I go every year, it still blows my mind every time I visit, seeing so many incredible pieces of art (not to mention all the Beautiful People) all in one place. Here are some of the highlights, though I think I will need to go back next week to have a proper look at everything.
It was amazing to see Marc Quinn’s gold sculpture of Kate Moss up close and … errm … rather personal.
Nic Fiddian-Green has temporarily relocated his entire studio to the venue, and will be working on his huge equestrian sculptures throughout the fair.
And on the theme of sculpture, I loved Elizabeth Turk’s tactile marble pieces too.
Masterpiece is about so much more than sculpture though: there are amazing artworks of all types, from ancient to modern; fabulous jewels; Maseratis; pop-up restaurants from Le Caprice, The Ivy, Scotts and The Mount Street Del; and FASCINATING people-watching to be enjoyed.
After all that excitement, it was nice to have a cuddle with a Chelsea Pensioner before heading home!
That’s all for now. Remember to sign up below to receive my updates direct to your inbox.
