Yesterday was the preview of the annual Masterpiece fine art fair. Set in the grounds of Chelsea Hospital, the fair is shopping, inspiration, fine dining and people-watching heaven.
A mix of antique and contemporary art, furniture, jewellery, the fair caters for all types of collectors.
Here is our pick of the top five pieces this year.
Impenetrable Room, 2017, by Ivan Navarro
This series of six identical six foot tall infinity light boxes is displayed in an unlit area, making them a real “wow” feature as you first enter the fair. A funky grown up version of a hall of mirrors – what’s not to love?
Bubble Cabinet, 2017, Jeroen Verhoeven Masterpiece London
This glass sculpture is just gorgeous. it’s so strokeable, and really does evoke the joy of blowing bubbles on a warm summer’s day.
Red Lamps, 1990, Roy Lichtenstein
Iconic, bright, sometimes controversial. Roy Lichtenstein reminds us in some ways of Bradley Theodore.
Troupeau de Moutons, Jean-David Botella Gallery, Paris
This herd of six sheep is such fun!
Riva Aquarama Lamborghini Masterpiece London
If you’re going to have a yacht, you ought to go for a Riva for the ultimate Italian elegance. And if you’re going for a Riva, you really may as well go for Lamborghini engines. Old school luxury in simple boat form!
This is our top five, but there really is so much to see at Masterpiece and this is a tiny selection of the delights on offer. We really recommend you pay a visit between now and 5 July 2017 and see for yourself! Let us know which are your favourite pieces.
Love, Mildred xx
